Get help for anger management.
Angry feelings can be a natural response to an emotionally charged situation. These feelings are often just a part of being human. But if your anger regularly gets out of control, it can lead to health problems, both mental and physical, harming all aspects of life. So, if you feel that your anger is affecting your family life or career, it's time to regain control and get help for anger management. I can help you virtually or from my practice in Weybridge, Surrey.
Three Steps to Success
- The first step is acknowledging that you have a problem.
- The second step is finding and addressing the cause of the anger.
- The third step is finding an intervention that turns off the anger response.
The anger response is a learned reaction. That is to say; it is a bad habit that can be changed once there is a willingness to do so.
Recent studies have shown that hypnosis and mindfulness meditation can provide an effective strategy for resolving and changing anger habits.
These therapies' combined approach addresses the conscious and subconscious mind. The therapeutic process helps you understand and change negative thought patterns that would, in turn, lead to destructive actions.
We adopt these combined therapies to stop the red mist from descending. The result should be that instead of projecting feelings of anger, you reach inside yourself and find reserves of calm.
Finding reserves of calm – The subconscious:
Using hypnosis, I will bring you to a deeply relaxed state. In this state, you will feel safe and able to open up subconsciously to positive suggestions for change.
When you are relaxed and calm, I will guide you on how to reflect on your triggers and identify the physical sensations associated with those triggers. I will ask you to examine the feelings, not to chase them away but to 'watch them' and then let them go one by one. This process will help you understand that these feelings need not take over.

Recognising a trigger and making a choice – The conscious:
Mindfulness helps you to notice and identify your triggers consciously. During your therapy sessions, I may also invite you to rehearse some scenarios that have triggered anger in your past - and then change your response in a way not dissimilar to 'virtual reality’.
It is important to remember that anger management is an ongoing process. However, regular mindfulness practice is a proven tool for dealing with the types of stress that might trigger the anger response. Our sessions at my Weybridge-based practice will give you the resources you need to adopt mindfulness into your daily routine.

I was recommended Joel by a friend for my son’s phobia of dogs. We completed 6 sessions of hypnotherapy over a few months with fantastic results. My son no longer feels unsafe and anxious around dogs and he is able to enjoy walks and visiting new parks without fear taking over. Joel also provided a sleep meditation audio that my son requests to listen to every night and he’s asleep within 10 minutes. I found Joel friendly, professional and engaging and my son was comfortable and even looked forward to the sessions. I’m very grateful for the experience and the changes it has made to our life. Thanks Joel!

Since my sessions with Joel (to overcome fear of injections and the dentist), I have been to the dentists, had a local anaesthetic in hospital, and booked in to have a procedure at the dentists. I’m slowly but surely getting there and feel calmer overall about injections. Joel was very approachable and worked flexibly around my availability. Thanks again, Joel.

I saw Joel for some hypnosis sessions just before he moved to Surrey. I had been in a car accident and was having a hard time getting back behind the wheel. As a Builder I'd always needed the use of a van but I just wasn't able to put the accident behind me. My Father was very into Hypnosis, so I knew that it does work for some, but I was still surprised at how well it worked for me. I'd highly recommend Joel, he comes across as professional but laid back, and he's easy to relax and talk with. Although I haven't bought a new vehicle yet, I am hiring them when necessary, so the techniques he used were definitely effective.
